Dell aims to be light. The Latitude XT (Spec sheet PDF) will weigh 3.5 pounds and a little more than 4 pounds with an additional battery. Touch beats the pen. "Pen input is just not intuitive," says Franco. As a result, Dell's tablet PC will be set for touch input out of the box. Dell will feature multimode between pen and touch inputs that automatically switches between the two depending on your usage. Dell worked with independent software vendors to coax Windows to be more in tune with touch screen inputs. "Traditional software loads aren't capable to expose that touch functionality," said Franco. Dell focused on all-day usage. Dell will offer a slim battery that attaches to the back of the Latitude XT that will add 9 hours of power. Dell also wanted to highlight real-world usage so it used a screen more in tune with outdoor use.
City litter louts named and shamed
WE warned you and today the Evening Times reveals the names of 500 of the first louts caught littering Glasgow's streets. Tomorrow we'll name and shame a further 500 and print a further 1000-plus names throughout the week. All the names have been obtained from Glasgow City Council. The home address offenders gave to litter wardens and where they were caught dropping litter is also listed. .
Writers strike shuts off shows
As the writers' strike heads into its sixth week, your favorite scripted dramas and comedies are continuing to dwindle. The networks plan new programs for January and beyond, including loads of reality fare. And there will be fresh scripted series that were wrapped before the strike began. There'll be stuff to watch. But that's cold comfort for fans feeling the premature absence of new episodes of the shows they love best. .
Gingerbread housing boom
HAWTHORNE -- The headquarters of Cake Specialty and Pastry on Goffle Road here appears far less magical than one might imagine from an annual producer of gingerbread houses by the hundreds. The popular Christmas treat was inspired, after all, by the German fairy tale "Hansel and Gretel." The front door of the small, gray warehouse opens into a fluorescent-lit shop, humdrum save for two no-fuss cases of Italian cookies and cakes. But it does seem slightly magical that, inside a spacious workroom each November and December, co-owner Nick DeSpirito builds 1,200 or so gingerbread houses from homemade gingerbread and white icing and decorates each with intricate icing designs and hard candies. Most find homes in hotels, restaurants and hospitals across New Jersey, New York City and Long Island, delivered through several distributors.

In 2002, the SCSBA nominated Hartman as "best radio talk show host" making him the first person to be nominated as both a talk show host and color analyst. He was also a 2004 inductee into the Southern California Jewish Sports Hall of Fame. In addition to his radio portfolio, he has been a weekend television sports anchor for KCBS in Los Angeles since 1998. Five times (1999-2001; 2003-04), Hartman and his colleagues have been honored as the best local sports television team by the SCSBA. In addition, he served seven years as a television color analyst for ESPN's coverage of the Toyota "Pro/Celebrity" race at the Grand Prix of Long Beach. Hartman first gained notice as the Daily Bruin sports editor at UCLA where he gained West Coast collegiate honors for his coverage of the 1980 Final Four.
